The Perioperative Nurse Educator is a registered professional nurse who has expertise in both the Perioperative clinical setting, nursing professional development and education. Experience for this role includes an in-depth understanding and management of a wide scope of surgical patients, general surgery, robotics, neurosurgery, gynecological, orthopedic, cardiac, trauma, bariatrics. The Perioperative Nurse Educator must have an in-depth understanding of the American Nurses Association Scope and Standards of Practice and the Association of Peri-Operative Nursing Standards.

The primary function is that of an educator, practitioner, consultant and change agent. The Perioperative Nurse Educator is a clinical expert with abilities to foster the clinical development of the staff that she/he guides. The Perioperative Nurse Educator will participate in the Nurse Residency Program to assess, validate and teach required skills for novice nurses. The Perioperative Nurse Educator may assist in other departments as clinically requested by nursing leadership.

• Four Days Per Week

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Active New Jersey RN License or approved compact RN license required.
• MSN in Nursing or Masters in Education is required.
• Must have demonstrated competence in OR / Perioperative environments.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in the specialty is required.
• Experience in education or staff development required.
• Clinical specialty CNOR is required; in progress accepted.
• Certification in Nursing Professional Development is preferred.
• BLS required.
