The Vice President of IT Infrastructure Audit is a senior leadership role within SMBC Group
, a leading global financial institution headquartered in Tokyo. SMBC operates in more than 40 countries with 80,000 employees and offers banking, leasing, securities, and consumer finance services.
SMBC seeks an experienced IT Infrastructure Audit professional with 7–10 years of experience in the banking and technology sector to oversee audit coverage of the Americas Division. As the audit lead, you will ensure compliance with IIA standards, support continuous monitoring, and partner with cross‑functional teams.
Salary and BenefitsThe anticipated salary range is $150,000–$190,000 annually, with eligibility for a discretionary incentive award. SMBC offers a competitive benefits portfolio and a hybrid workforce model that blends remote and office work.
Responsibilities- Conduct regular audits of IT infrastructure related areas, assessing adherence to firm and regulatory requirements.
- Create audit issues and reports that clearly articulate results for senior management and auditees.
- Challenge ongoing coverage and propose improvements to audit procedures.
- Facilitate risk issue tracking to promote timely remediation.
- Perform issue assurance work for audit, regulatory, and self‑identified areas.
- Collaborate with colleagues and auditees to identify risk concerns and agree on solutions.
- Forge partnerships with legal, compliance, data security, and risk management teams.
- Partner with audit colleagues across business verticals and geographies to share best practices.
- Conduct continuous monitoring activities and maintain auditable entity updates.
- 7–10 years of IT Application/Infrastructure/Cybersecurity audit experience in banking or technology.
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure risks and controls (e.g., General Controls, Platform Controls, Virtualization, Cloud, AI/Machine Learning).
- Familiarity with industry standards such as NIST, CRI, NYS DFS 500, FFIEC.
- Proficiency in audit techniques, risk assessment, and workpaper standards.
- Strong strategic thinking and risk identification skills.
- Trusted advisor capability with discretion and sound judgment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and professional skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Finance, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
