Data Engineer
Our client, a leader in financial services technology, is seeking a Lead Data Engineer (Jersey City) to join their innovative team. As a Lead Data Engineer (Jersey City), you will be part of the Enterprise Finance Technology's GWD Technology team supporting data analytics, reporting, and platform development initiatives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem‑solving skills, excellent communication, and collaborative abilities, which will align successfully in the organization.
Job Title: Lead Data Engineer (Jersey City)
Location: Jersey City, NJ
What's the Job?- Design, develop, and optimize large-scale data pipelines using PySpark and related big data tools.
- Collaborate with technical leads and product owners to deliver support data, analytics, and reporting functionalities.
- Implement scalable, efficient Spark jobs and troubleshoot performance issues to ensure data integrity and security.
- Lead migration of legacy database modules to modern big data stacks, ensuring seamless transition and performance.
- Support the SDLC process through design, build, test, deploy, and support phases, maintaining high standards of quality.
- 10-12 years of experience in Oracle SQL programming and development.
- Deep understanding of PySpark development principles, including RDDs, Data Frames, transformations, and actions.
- Hands‑on experience designing and implementing data pipelines with big data tools, including Hadoop ecosystem components and Hive.
- Strong knowledge of object‑oriented programming concepts and their application within PySpark.
- Experience working with large datasets (~100 million records) and optimizing performance for scalability.
