Mainframe Architect

Required Experience

12-15 years of experience in Mainframe with at least 5 years as a Solution Architect.

• Engage with business, application, and infrastructure stakeholders to understand system requirements, constraints, and long‑term objectives.
• Analyze existing mainframe applications and platforms to understand current‑state architecture, dependencies, and integration points.
• Define end‑to‑end solution architectures for mainframe‑based and hybrid (mainframe + distributed/cloud) environments.
• Design target‑state architectures that support scalability, performance, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
• Create and maintain architecture diagrams, design documents, and solution blueprints.
• Provide architectural guidance to development and support teams throughout the solution lifecycle.
• Participate in design reviews to validate architectural decisions and ensure alignment with enterprise standards.
• Identify risks related to performance, availability, capacity, or integration, and propose mitigation strategies.
• Support modernization initiatives such as application refactoring, re‑platforming, or integration with newer technologies.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and operations teams to ensure solutions are production‑ready.
• Assist in estimation, planning, and sequencing of work from an architectural standpoint.
• Review implementation progress to ensure the delivered solution aligns with approved designs.
• Support production readiness reviews, deployment planning, and post‑implementation assessments.
