Our ECHO & EKG Lab is growing and we have Full‑time inpatient and ER opportunities available with a $10,000 sign‑on bonus and relocation assistance.
Schedule- Variable hours – must be available from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and flexible for extended hours as needed.
- On‑call including weekends and holidays; weekend starts 5:30 p.m. Friday and ends 7:00 a.m. Monday.
- Must be present/on‑site within 1 hour of call.
- Travel 1–2 times a month, rotational – occasionally travel with a portable ultrasound machine to a continuing‑care facility across town to perform echoes.
- Multi‑credentialed sonographers must have one of the following credentials: RCS–Registered Cardiac Sonographer through CCI, RDCS–Reg Diag Cardiac Sonographer through ARDMS, RVT or RVS.
Graduate of an accredited Technical or Associates degree program in Radiology and (2) years of professional experience with intermediate level echocardiography or vascular skills.
Desired Skills- Proficient in transthoracic echocardiography.
- Teach and share knowledge with fellows, team members and students during clinical rotations.
- Familiarity with Philips iE33/EPIQ systems.
The Cardiac Sonographer II performs basic to advanced cardiac ultrasound services and procedures for adult patients such as transthoracic, transesophageal and stress studies used to diagnose and assess cardiac abnormalities. General duties include preparing equipment, prepping patients and explaining procedures, reviewing images, reporting findings, analyzing patient clinical history to identify the purpose of the examination, and expanding the examination as necessary.
EssentialFunctions of the Role
- Prepare patients for procedures and obtain clinical history including cardiac physical findings and pertinent laboratory data to adapt imaging techniques for diagnostic accuracy.
- Perform basic to advanced cardiac ultrasound procedures using a variety of equipment and techniques and make the necessary measurements required for interpretation.
- Identify and define cardiac abnormalities and extend the scope of examination when appropriate, correlating invasive and noninvasive cardiac diagnostic tests with cardiac anatomy and function.
- Assist physicians in procedure rooms and operating rooms by performing echo cardiographic studies to aid complex procedures.
- Assist in performing transesophageal studies with cardiologists, calculate appropriate measurements and sterilize probes.
- Record statistics, perform daily maintenance of the Echocardiography Lab and its equipment, and report all malfunctions as appropriate.
- Serve as a resource for other staff, physicians, and students regarding equipment, techniques, procedures, and studies to optimize patient care.
- Work closely with the cardiac sonographer quality coordinator to ensure adherence to quality processes and protocols, and assist with ICAEL accreditation activities as delegated.
- Implement protocols as new technology evolves and ensure adherence to system echocardiography standards.
- Knowledge and ability to apply complex sonographic principles, instrumentation, and techniques.
- Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology.
- Ability to explain the purpose of the echo cardiographic examination to the patient and answer patient questions.
- Knowledge of approved clinical protocols for each type of cardiovascular ultrasound examination.
- Knowledge of proper infection control, including precautionary procedures, and relevant laws regarding patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with healthcare providers.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Skilled utilization of computers and medical equipment.

- Education:
Graduate of an accredited program or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification. - Experience:
Less than 1 year of experience. - Certification/License/Registration:
- Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Reg Diag Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS):
Must have one of the following at time of hire/transfer:- RCS through Cardio Credentialing International (CCI).
- RDCS through American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
