Job Description & How to Apply Below

Based in New Jersey and established in 2010, Asset Based Lending, LLC (“ABL”) is one of the nation’s leading Hard Money Lenders. We provide fast bridge financing to real estate investors for the purchase, renovation, or new construction of single family, multi-family and mixed-use properties as well as DSCR rental loans for long term investors. We have closed thousands of loans since we began lending fourteen years ago, producing nearly $3B in originations.

ABL was acquired by a private equity firm in 2021, and with a renewed focus on growth, we’ve set our sights on consistent evolution and cementing our place as the premier private lender in the country.

Our Mission is Simple:
  • Make Good Loans
  • Provide Exceptional Service, Every Time
  • Protect The Firm
  • Build The Future

We are seeking a highly analytical, commercially minded Finance Manager to join our growing finance organization in a dynamic player-coach role. Reporting to our CFO, this role will serve as the primary Strategic Finance business partner to operational leadership, owning financial rigor, cost discipline, and ROI accountability across the organization.

This is not a back-office reporting role. The Finance Manager is embedded in the business, partnering directly with leaders to design financially sound operating models, translate strategy into dollars, and drive measurable improvements in profitability, efficiency, and decision quality.

The ideal candidate balances hands‑on modeling and analysis with team leadership, thrives in a fast‑paced environment, and is passionate about using data to drive better business outcomes.

Core Responsibilities Strategic Finance & Business Partnership
  • Serve as the primary Strategic Finance partner to department leaders, providing financial leadership, rigor, and accountability across the organization
  • Partner with leaders to design financially sound operating models, evaluate build vs. buy decisions, and model headcount, vendor, and investment tradeoffs
  • Translate strategy into clear financial plans, timelines, and ROI expectations
  • Act as a trusted advisor to operational leaders, bringing solutions, not just analysis
  • Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders
  • Own the annual planning process, rolling forecasts, and long-range financial models
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeting and forecasting cycles with a bottom‑up, operationally driven approach
  • Build and maintain financial models to support strategic initiatives, pricing decisions, growth opportunities, and new loan products
  • Conduct scenario analysis to pressure‑test assumptions, evaluate risk, and assess opportunity across the business
  • Develop pro forma models for new initiatives, programs, and investments
Department Cost Modeling & Budget Ownership
  • Partner with department leaders to define and document the true cost structure of their functions, including headcount, tools, vendors, and programs
  • Build bottom‑up budgets tied to real operating needs and business priorities
  • Establish cost targets, efficiency benchmarks, and spend guardrails aligned to growth plans
  • Ensure resources are allocated to the highest-impact work and challenge low-return activities
Performance Tracking, Accountability & Profitability Management
  • Own management reporting packages with variance analysis, financial commentary, and actionable recommendations
  • Track actuals vs. plan at the department, product, and channel level, identifying what’s off, why, and what to do about it
  • Own analysis of loan product performance, origination channel profitability, and branch-level P&Ls, and drive corrective action with business leaders
  • Track and report on key KPIs including origination volume, portfolio performance, yield, and operational efficiency metrics
  • Ensure commitments are owned, delivered, and course‑corrected as needed
Investment Governance & ROI Discipline
  • Own financial business cases and ROI models for major initiatives, programs, and investments
  • Partner with leadership to prioritize investments based on financial impact and strategic alignment
  • Track performance against business cases and hold leaders accountable to expected returns
