AVP, Financial Reporting Manager – Key member of the Fortitude Life and Annuity Valuation team, supporting valuation and financial reporting for US GAAP and statutory accounting for reinsurance and acquired businesses. Reports to the VP, Valuation Actuary. Responsible for consolidation and financial reporting of Fortitude Re’s Life and Annuity business, including actuarial account reconciliations.

Location:

Jersey City, NJ (Hybrid).

• Consolidate valuation results for financial reporting across Fortitude’s lines of business within reporting timelines.
• Serve as the technical expert and supervise the valuation actuarial team on US GAAP and statutory liabilities for Life and Annuity contracts.
• Establish and conduct periodic unlocking of Deferred Gain, Cost of Reinsurance Asset and VoBA Liability schedules.
• Develop and maintain a robust control infrastructure.
• Lead and support US statutory annual statement and Bermuda annual statutory reporting.
• Support development and maintenance of a production valuation data and calculation environment for multiple valuation models, primarily Axis.
• Develop and automate reporting infrastructure with repeatable processes and built‑in review capability.
• Work with internal and external auditors in periodic reviews.
• Assist in reviewing, understanding, and interpreting results, explaining earnings variations versus expectations.
• Communicate consolidated results to senior management through memos, PowerPoint presentations, and provide insights.
• Mentor and guide junior team members and foster continuous learning.
• Contribute to team capability‑building through best‑practice sharing, peer review, and development of standard tools and templates.

• Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, actuarial science or other quantitative fields (preferred).
• 6+ years of experience in valuation, financial reporting and analysis for insurance/reinsurance or insurance accounting.
• Associateship of the Society of Actuaries (ASA), Fellowship (FSA) or a recognized accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and US statutory accounting principles and reporting requirements.
• Project‑management, detail‑oriented and strong organizational skills.
• Excellent analytical, mathematical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in financial modeling, financial principles, MS Word, Excel and data literacy.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Highly motivated, results‑ and goal‑oriented, able to manage multiple projects within reporting timelines.

Base Salary Range: $190,000 USD – $210,000 USD. Eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance, plus a generous benefits package.
