Overview

Veeco is seeking a Quality Engineer to lead continuous improvement initiatives that drive operational excellence and exceed customer expectations. The role involves investigating reported quality issues, determining root causes, and developing corrective actions with accountable ownership. This position requires a data‑driven mindset, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.

Responsibilities
  • Lead cross‑functional teams (Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Field Service) to identify and resolve quality issues in complex electromechanical systems.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as 8D and FMEA.
  • Act as the voice of quality in NPI gate reviews and design decisions.
  • Analyze production and field data to identify trends, drive root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Develop and maintain KPIs relevant to the program and company objectives.
  • Maintain and generate reports from quality metrics dashboards.
  • Partner with Supplier Quality and vendors to leverage failure analysis learnings and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Support documentation improvements: SOPs, drawings, work instructions, inspection plans, etc.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly across technical and non‑technical audiences, both verbally and in writing.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or a related technical field and a minimum of 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of related experience, is required. Capital equipment manufacturing experience, especially in the semiconductor industry, is highly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes
  • Expertise in quality tools such as 8D, FMEA, 5

    Why Analysis, Fishbone/Ishikawa Diagrams, and SPC.
  • Ability to lead and influence effectively in a team‑oriented, agile environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a foundation in statistics and data analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, tailorable to all audience levels.
  • High degree of proven self‑initiative and ability to operate autonomously.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, Power BI, Sigma Solutions) is a plus.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification.
  • Familiarity with SAP ERP Quality and Service modules.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in a high‑tech, precision‑driven industry.
  • Comfortable working in iterative product development cycles and adapting to changing priorities.
  • Detail‑oriented with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
Salary and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $88,000–$113,000, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job‑related factors when determining your pay.
