Young Management & Consulting is seeking a Structural/Geotechnical Engineer will play a critical role in the review and processing of tenant alteration applications (TAA) and design audit projects across owner- and operator-managed facilities. This position is responsible for performing comprehensive structural and geotechnical design reviews to ensure full compliance with applicable building codes, technical standards, and industry best practices.

The successful candidate will serve as a technical liaison between tenants, facility stakeholders, and internal review teams, helping to ensure efficient project processing, clear communication, and timely resolution of design issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed reviews of structural and geotechnical design documents submitted as part of Tenant Alteration Applications (TAA) and design audit projects.
  • Download, organize, and preview electronic TAA submissions to assess scope, completeness, and readiness for formal review.
  • Analyze and evaluate construction drawings, structural and geotechnical calculations, specifications, technical reports, and supporting documentation for compliance with applicable building codes, technical standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Identify design deficiencies, code compliance issues, and coordination gaps, and develop clear, concise, and actionable review comments.
  • Coordinate and consolidate review input from multiple technical disciplines, ensuring alignment and consistency across comments.
  • Prepare formal memoranda and correspondence transmitting consolidated review comments to internal line departments and external stakeholders.
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings with tenant Architects and Engineers of Record to discuss review comments, clarify requirements, and facilitate resolution of technical issues.
  • Assign appropriate technical disciplines for code and design review and track progress to support timely project processing.
  • Communicate and coordinate with facilities teams, tenants, and internal application reviewers to support smooth workflow and efficient processing of TAA and design audit projects.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records within internal systems and platforms, including SharePoint, eBuilder, and other project management tools.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering (structural/geotechnical focus preferred).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in structural and/or geotechnical engineering, with direct involvement in building design, code compliance, and construction review.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of structural and geotechnical systems related to buildings and transportation-related facilities.
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable building codes, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to act as an effective liaison between tenants, facilities, and internal review teams to ensure coordinated and efficient project delivery.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability and willingness to learn and use internal and external systems such as SharePoint, eBuilder, and related platforms.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of New York and/or New Jersey is required.
Preferred Attributes
  • Experience reviewing tenant improvement or alteration projects in large, complex facilities.
  • Familiarity with multidisciplinary design coordination and formal design audit processes.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting review deadlines.
