The Staff Accountant is responsible for providing financial, administrative, and clerical services in order to ensure efficient and accurate financial reporting in a variety of areas. This includes assisting with accounts payable, accounts receivable, costing, cash management, forecasting/budget, and other areas as needed. This position assists with the monthly closing of the financial statements, gathering information for various audits, and preparing management reports.
The Staff Accountant must comply with established policies and procedures, regulatory directives, and approved business practices. He/she will actively participate with the team and assist in creating a positive work environment. The Staff Accountant possesses excellent written and oral communication skills and interacts professionally with vendors/customers and management. This position is designed to adapt with the business, and responsibilities may expand as organizational needs develop.
FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Financial Controller with process and controls initiatives
- Assist with AP, AR and milk payroll as needed
- Assist with month-end closing, including key account analysis and preparation of financial statements
- Evaluate customer credit limits and terms, and propose changes to the CFO
- Oversee credit insurance accounts and policies
- Maintain accuracy of key account analysis
- Develop detailed analysis to identify trends
- Assist with the development and maintenance of budgets and forecasts
- Support software conversions
- Identify areas of opportunity for process improvement
- Prepare and distribute internal and external reports as assigned
- Assist with financial audits
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting - Master’s degree in business related field highly preferred
- 2-4 years of accounting experience required
- Dairy industry experience preferred
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Demonstrates excellent MS Office skills including Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point
- Maintains confidentiality
- Punctual and professional
- Subject to up to at least 92db’s
- Lifting: up to 20 lbs. occasionally
