The Assistant Branch Manager (along with other management team members) is responsible for the daily activities and member service in the branch. The ABM is a vital link in the development and retention of Alliance Credit Union branch staff. This position requires excellent leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to set priorities and complete goals. Alliance Credit Union ABMs are take-charge individuals who exhibit a high degree of enthusiasm, will recommend positive changes, and are always striving to achieve member sales and service excellence.
The ABM will work closely with the Branch Manager to bring the Alliance Credit Union Brand Promise and Brand Experience to life within the branch daily. Staff and Members will rely on this position to provide a friendly teamwork atmosphere built on a foundation of trust and financial stability.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Branch Operations & Leadership:
Assist the Branch Manager in planning, directing, and supervising daily branch operations. Provide management coverage in their absence, oversee teller and service functions, coordinate scheduling, and resolve escalated member concerns. - Staff Development & Performance:
Provide leadership, training, coaching, and performance evaluations for branch staff. Ensure employees adhere to professional standards, maintain exceptional member service, and achieve branch productivity goals. - Member Relations & Business Development:
Promote credit union products and services to members and the community. Support marketing campaigns, represent the branch in public relations activities, and strengthen member and community relationships to drive branch growth. - Compliance, Policy & Culture:
Uphold all regulatory, policy, and procedural requirements. Foster a constructive, team-oriented work environment while modeling and encouraging the organization’s service philosophy. - Financial & Cash Management:
Manage cash operations for the branch, including security, loss prevention, and ATM response. Oversee cash transportation within policy limits and maintain accurate financial reporting and balancing procedures. - Facility, Safety & Security:
Oversight of branch facility safety and security. Serve as backup Security Officer, provide robbery-prevention training, and oversee regular testing of alarm and security systems. - Reporting, Audits & Administrative Support:
Maintain accurate records and reports, oversee timely completion of branch audits, and support records retention programs. Assist senior management with projects and administrative needs as assigned.
- Strong leadership in coaching, training, and motivating staff to achieve high performance.
- Proficiency in sales, service, operations, and compliance with branch processes and procedures.
- Advanced organizational, multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and interpersonal) with effective time management.
- Competence in consumer math, financial transactions, and advanced computer systems.
- In-depth understanding of credit union operations, financial institutions, and regulatory requirements.
- Expertise in general ledgers, reporting, and balancing procedures.
- Comprehensive knowledge of credit union products, services, policies, and procedures to support member needs and cross-sell effectively.
- Familiarity with related jobs and organizational functions, with a strong ethical and compliance mindset.
