The Wound Ostomy Care Nurse is a nurse specialist whose scope of practice involves the age‑specific care of patients ranging from neonate through geriatric. This includes planning, implementing, educating, and evaluating the care of patients with impaired skin integrity, ostomies, and complex or chronic wounds, including surgical wounds. As a clinician, the nurse provides direct patient care, consultations, assessments, recommendations, and ongoing re‑evaluation of nursing care for hospitalized patients and outpatients, within the specific scope of practice.

The nurse is a resource for nursing staff, patients, families, and physicians and sees patients with a physician or nursing consult as ordered through EPIC.

• One of: CWOCN or CWON – Must obtain Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN) or Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) credential within two years of hire
• Registered Nurse (IN)
