Job Location: Central Office, 830 MoDOT Drive, Jefferson City, MO
This position may be filled at one of the three levels based on knowledge, skills, and abilities. The entry salary is posted above, with the intermediate starting salary of $66,634.32, and a senior starting salary of $71,964.96.
This position may be filled at one of our CAREER-LADDER positions which offers the opportunity for career advancement without having to participate in the competitive selection interview process. As you continue to learn, acquire new skills, and gain experience, you can be promoted to a higher-level position.
Why You’ll Love This Position:
The safety specialist provides entry-level professional support for safety programs and processes. Responsibilities are performed under direct supervision.
MoDOT will bring candidates onto the team as entry-level, intermediate, or senior level, based on your skills and experience.
What You’ll Do- Coordinates the department's safety and occupational health programs.
- Identifies and assesses risks, exposures, and hazards through development and management of control strategies for department operations.
- Measures, evaluates, audits, and continually improves the effectiveness of hazard controls and control programs.
- Conducts safety training, performs ergonomic assessments, and organizes industrial hygiene testing; may coordinate workplace security programs, including training.
- Investigates workplace incidents involving department employees to determine cause and make preventative recommendations; may assess and review workplace locations for security risks.
- Bachelor's Degree:
Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, or related field, OR Four years of experience in industrial hygiene or occupational safety.
- Job requires frequent district-wide and occasional statewide travel.
- Job requires exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment.
- Job may require operation of vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials.
