Why you’ll love this position: The geographic information system specialist performs routine entry-level activities in the design, implementation, and support of geographic information systems (GIS) applications and databases. Responsibilities are performed under moderate supervision.

• Operate advanced mobile mapping equipment to collect high density point clouds and imagery for highway engineering projects.
• Use drone technology to enhance data gathering, particularly in hard-to-reach areas, potentially improving efficiency and coverage.
• Process and register mobile and drone lidar data, extract topographic and planimetric features, and produce deliverables.
• Perform quality assurance on point cloud data for completeness, accuracy, and noise reduction.
• Provide ESRI ArcGIS Pro training and technical assistance to department personnel.

• Bachelor s Degree:
  Geography, Computer Science, Surveying, Geographic Information Systems, or related field, OR
• Four years of experience working with geographic information systems, surveying, or computer aided design and drafting.

• Job may require occasional statewide overnight travel.
