Position Title:

Teacher - Pre Kindergarten

Must hold proper state certification

Principal and/or other Supervisor

Preferred candidates with a passion to grow three to five year olds in social emotional learning, behavior, language development, early math concepts through instruction and play-based learning.

• Implement district curriculum.
• Design activities that engage children in active learning.
• Actively engage in professional development activities.
• Use a variety of different educational techniques (for example storytelling, playing games, media presentations etc.) for instruction.
• Facilitate development of children s social skills, self-esteem, self-regulation and academics.
• Inspire children to communicate with each other in a friendly and positive manner
• Facilitate positive conflict resolution.
• Supervise students during classroom instructional activities, meals, recess, snack time and rest time.
• Maintain an open line of communication with parents and provide appropriate information.
• Evaluate students  academic, communication, and social growth. Keep appropriate records for progress monitoring and complete the district rubric assessment based upon MELS twice per year.
• Ensure a safe and orderly learning environment.
• Collaborate with other teachers, paraprofessionals and administration.
• Directly supervise a classroom aide/paraprofessional.
• Collaborate with special education staff to support students with IEPs to address individual needs.
• Participate in required meetings, committees and school activities.
• Adhere with all relevant health and safety standards and policies of the Jefferson City Public Schools.

• Minimum of bachelor s degree in education.
• Current Early Childhood Teacher Certification (B-3)
• In-depth knowledge of child development and latest education theories and practices
• Must enjoy working with children
• Creative teaching abilities
• Patience and flexibility.
• Believe in positive behavior supports for student success.
• Possess outstanding communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
