You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. This role is for an experienced EHS Manager, Safety Specialist, or Safety Engineer to support safety operations in Melbourne, Australia, with potential extensions to other states or countries.
The selected candidate will be an effective communicator who advises, instructs, and trains personnel on safety policies, procedures, and standards. You will collaborate with internal and external partners—physical security, vendors, compliance officers, risk management, and fire/life safety systems—to maintain and enhance operational safety.
This position reports to the Regional Safety Manager, Australia & New Zealand, and may require some international travel.
Key Job Responsibilities- Implement safety standards, policies, and practices, including safety management systems, training, and risk assessments.
- Collaborate with Amazon teams (Facilities Managers, Human Resources, Operations) and outside vendors (General Contractors, sub‑contractors, Emergency Services) on operations and construction.
- Ensure compliance with global safety programs and local regulatory legislation.
- Develop safety plans for on‑site emergencies, special events, and other unique safety situations.
- Perform safety data analysis and create benchmarking.
- Maintain safety recordkeeping and provide accurate reporting and metrics to support business safety initiatives.
- Consult with legal on safety regulation interpretation and investigations.
- Develop and implement solutions to eliminate exposure to risks and prevent injury.
- Adapt to fast‑paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, strategy, and deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Five or more years of field experience with a proven record of safety.
- Experience in construction, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or similar industries with diverse employees and third‑party contractors.
- Strong knowledge of local safety and health regulatory law, investigative practices, and interactions with regulators.
