The Accountant is responsible for managing financial records, ensuring accurate reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards within the hospitality environment. This role supports hotel/restaurant operations by controlling costs, managing revenues, and providing timely financial information to management.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Accounting & ReportingMaintain accurate books of accounts, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, and petty cash
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
Monitor daily revenue reports (rooms, F&B, events, POS systems)
Reconcile POS, PMS, and night audit reports
Track occupancy, average daily rate (ADR), and revenue per available room (RevPAR)
Control food & beverage costs and inventory variances
Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts
Monitor departmental expenses and highlight variances
Implement cost control measures to improve profitability
Prepare and file VAT / sales tax returns as per local regulations
Ensure timely statutory payments and compliance
Support external and internal audits
Process payroll and related accounting entries
Maintain employee records related to salaries, benefits, and deductions
Coordinate with HR for payroll and staff-related financial matters
Coordinate with banks, auditors, suppliers, and government authorities
Provide financial analysis and reports to management
Support management in financial decision-making
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum [2–5] years of accounting experience, preferably in hospitality
Knowledge of hospitality accounting systems (e.g., Opera, Sun Systems, Micros, SAP, Quick Books)
Strong knowledge of VAT / taxation (as applicable)
Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software
Strong analytical and numerical skills
Attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Good communication and coordination skills
High level of integrity and confidentiality
Experience in hotels, resorts, restaurants, or catering companies
Familiarity with POS and property management systems
Prior audit or cost control experience
