Materials Manager
Position at Kimball Electronics
. The Materials Manager reports to the General Manager and oversees Materials Quote / Sourcing, Purchasing, Demand Planning, Logistics, Materials Flow and Inventory Control.
Manage the strategic direction, continuous improvement, and metric performance of the areas under supervision. Aim to maximize material availability for production with the lowest total cost while supporting excellent customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Manage Materials Quote / Sourcing, Purchasing, Demand Planning, Logistics, Materials Flow and Inventory Control.
- Drive strategic direction and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and improve metric performance such as inventory value on hand, purchase price, freight costs, and on‑time delivery.
- Learn current processes and procedures.
- Become familiar with production facility and customers.
- Achieve Yellow Belt Certification in KEJ’s Continuous Improvement Program.
- Create good working relationships with suppliers and customers.
- Partner with business management to develop supply chain strategies.
- Develop improvement plans to reduce inventory value on hand, purchase price, freight costs, and improve on‑time delivery.
- Identify and implement opportunities for improvement with Materials teams.
- Build relationships with Global Supply Chain team.
- Achieve Green Belt Certification in KEJ’s Continuous Improvement Program.
- Knowledge of shop floor control and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of logistics and supply chain.
- Familiar with business and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of lean concepts.
- Ability to motivate and develop direct reports.
- Ability to work with all levels of the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- CPIM certification a plus.
