Credit Analyst
DEPARTMENT: Loan
LOCATION: Jasper, IN
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Senior Credit Analyst
SUPERVISES: No supervisory responsibilities
JOB SUMMARYResponsible for analyzing and monitoring the credit worthiness of the Bank's customers. Analyzes financial statements, tax returns and bank references to evaluate the financial condition of individuals and businesses applying for credit with the bank.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Obtains loan request information from lender or borrower to analyze credit information, financial statements and other related information pertaining to the loan.
- Researches background documentation, reviews personal, business financial statements, and tax returns. Analyzes financial information and prepares the preliminary analysis for the lender.
- Gathers information for FAS 114 analysis of collateral coverage for troubled loans and assists with analysis.
- Identifies loan problems or potential loan problems at the earliest visible indication and reports these problems to Executive Loan Committee
- Assists Loan Officers in conducting inventory audits as needed
- Performs annual reviews and submits findings to Sr. Analyst for finalization.
- Prepares reports, summaries and opinions for financial institution officers on new, renewal and existing loans. Tracks renewals.
- Works with Sr. Analyst and CLO to dissect trends in the portfolio, performs regular reviews of industry concentration, Stress Testing, Supervisory LTV, etc. to assist management in oversight.
- Performs credit inquiries for financial institution as requested.
- Coordinates agenda and takes minutes for loan meetings
- Actively achieves individual sales, referral, operational, and community involvement goals.
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance or accounting (CPA a plus).
- Bank credit experience preferred.
- Excellent financial and analytical skills with sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of personal/business financial statements and tax returns.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Environment.
