Volunteer Summary: Serves as a member of the Hospice IDG. Provides respite services to assigned patients and families.

Description: Provides emotional support and compassionate care to patients and their families, assisting with comfort and companionship. Coordinates with team members and documents services provided.

Qualifications:

• High school graduate or GED preferred.
• Completes Hospice training program.
• Willingness to work as part of a hospice team, with good communication skills.
• Previous volunteering, grief, or bereavement experience preferred.

Volunteer Factors:

• Must have sight/hearing or adaptive devices to perform duties.
• Ability to work independently, make judgments, and handle emotional stress.
• Must tolerate exposure to elements and hazardous materials.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation.

Essential Functions:

• Provide respite services to patients and families.
• Understand and support end-of-life care interventions.
• Offer emotional support and document services.
• Coordinate with the Volunteer Coordinator and team members.
