: 6:30 p.m. – 7:00 a.m., 12‑hour night shifts. 24 hours per week. Part‑time benefits status.

The Mercyhealth Behavioral Health In‑Patient Unit serves patients with acute mental illnesses and medically monitors withdrawal. The unit holds six to twelve patients at a time, with staffing aligned to patient needs. Care is delivered in a safe environment through assessment, individual and group interventions, rapport building, de‑escalation, and discharge planning.
Responsibilities- Utilize the nursing process and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to approved nursing techniques, policies, procedures, standards of care, and state laws.
- Document according to standards of care.
- Perform assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care.
- Develop, initiate, and execute patient care plans according to individualized needs, physician or clinic policy, including patient and family instruction.
- Participate in department or unit performance improvement activities, including shared governance.
- Provide clinical expertise and guidance to other units in support of the patient’s longitudinal care plan.
- Utilize critical thinking regarding patient safety and experience, and appropriately escalated to the chain of command.
- Engage in professional nursing continuum processes, unit practice activities, decisions, and peer review.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- ADN required upon hire, BSN preferred.
- May require specific years of applicable experience per department guidelines.
- Licensed RN in state of practice.
- Approved CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days.
- Other certifications per unit requirements (e.g., ACLS, PALS, PEARS, NRP).
