Overview
Location:
Janesville, WI
Unit:
Surgical and Pediatrics
Hours:
30 hours per week on night shift. May include variable shifts, weekends, holidays, and on‑call hours.
Provides compassionate, culturally sensitive, holistic nursing care to patients in a clinical setting, supporting the Mercyhealth nursing mission, practice values and strategic plan. Performs other duties as assigned including floating to various units based on identified needs and clinical competency.
Responsibilities- Utilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients.
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws/practice act.
- Performs assessments, planning, intervention and evaluation of care.
- Documents according to standards of care.
- Develops, initiates, and executes a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by physician and/or clinic policy including patient and family instruction.
- Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities and shared governance.
- Provides clinical expertise and guidance to other units and departments to support the patient's longitudinal plan of care.
- Uses critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience and appropriately escalates to the appropriate chain of command.
- Offers ideas and solutions to practice issues and participates in mentoring and precepting new staff.
- Engages in personal development and supports continuous learning and growth.
- Actively participates in a minimum of one departmental or unit performance improvement activity.
Demonstrate high standards of quality, service, partnering, and cost‑consciousness through daily work practices and interactions.
Education & Experience- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- BSN preferred; ADN with a signed BSN Agreement or 5 years of RN experience acceptable.
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience required.
- Licensed RN in the state of practice.
- CPR/BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
- Other unit certifications (ACLS, PALS, PEARS, NRP) as required.
