Overview
This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and overseeing projects to ensure successful completion within established scope, timelines, and budgetary constraint for all laboratories within the organization. While ensuring successful delivery of projects like new equipment implementation, launching new tests, helping with consolidation of services when indicated along with other assigned projects.
This Supervisor will guide teams through projects ensuring smooth implementation and will work closely with the Laboratory Administrative Director. They will be a resource regarding policies and procedures and should have a strong knowledge of Mercy instrumentation and troubleshooting.
They will also serve as a liaison with educational institutions to coordinate student placements for laboratory clinical rotations and internships across the system.
Certification/LicenseMT, MLS, CLS, Generalist Certification or Specialty Certification BB, C, H, M, HTL or CT required.
ResponsibilitiesWork closely with Laboratory Administrative Director on projects identified, to include:
- Reviews Policy Stat policies and procedures for accuracy and update as needed.
- Maintains consistency between IFU's, Procedure Catalog, and Policy Stat for specimen collection and handling details.
- Provides project management assistance for teams including managers, supervisors, technical specialists, team leads and frontline partners.
- Assures compliance with regulatory standards and represents lab during accreditation surveys.
- Participate in interdepartmental committees or teams when needed.
- Supervises by direction of Laboratory Leadership.
- Work with Business Line Manager regarding contracts for new technology/instrumentation and the implementation within the laboratories.
- General oversight for all clinical internships.
- Manage schedule, working with supervisors to arrange departmental/location clinicals.
Knowledge of method and instrument evaluation and implementation.
Main contact for colleges and students regarding clinical rotations.
Education and ExperienceBachelor's Degree preferred.
Associate of Science degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology, or military equivalent, and 6 years clinical laboratory experience required.
