Play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive healthcare services aimed at treating and preventing mental illness and maintaining behavioral health as a Nurse Practitioner for the North Dakota State Hospital.

As a Nurse Practitioner
, you conduct thorough physical examinations and health assessments, compile health data including medical history to inform diagnosis and treatment plans. You will use your expertise to order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests, enabling accurate assessment and planning of interventions to address patient healthcare needs. Additionally, you will initiate timely interventions and medical treatments. You will prescribe medications and treatments as necessary, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and best practices.

Furthermore, you will gauge patient progress and adjust treatment plans as required and educate and counsel patients on prescribed therapeutic regimens.

, you must successfully complete a standard background and criminal record check and meet the requirements below for a NP or PA.

Nurse Practitioner (NP) - You must have licensure as a Registered Nurse with licensure as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner by the North Dakota Board of Nursing. Or registration in another state and eligibility for advanced licensure in North Dakota. Licensure is a condition of employment. The employing agency will verify and document licensure upon appointment.

We have a 'preference' for an individual who has achieved their psychiatric certification as an NP or is willing to obtain their psychiatric certification with possible assistance from the employer, while being employed. Psychiatric Mental Health Practitioner license preferred, or able to obtain the licensing.
