Job PurposeThe In-Home Delivery Driver’s primary responsibilities include loading, delivery, and set‑up of purchased furniture. The position involves working with a team member to load, transport, and deliver/set up home furnishings in customers' homes. The qualified candidate will need to have excellent communication and customer service skills, a clean driving record, and the ability to lift 150 lbs.
DescriptionIn addition to the core duties outlined in the Job Purpose, the driver will: verify load contents and piece counts; confirm furniture quality; unload, assemble, and touch up furniture in the customer’s home; obtain signatures and collect COD; keep the FLS truck clean and in good working condition; maintain compliance with DMV/DOT regulations and required logs; and arrive punctually and consistently for scheduled hours.
EssentialFunctions And Responsibilities
- Verify load contents for piece count.
- Confirm that furniture is of manufacturer’s quality.
- Unload, set‑up, assemble, and touch up furniture in customer’s home.
- Obtain signatures and collect the COD to complete the delivery.
- Keep FLS truck clean and in good working condition.
- Maintain compliance with all DMV/DOT driver regulations and required logs.
- Arrive punctually and consistently to work for normally scheduled hours.
This job is an onsite position that operates in a professional environment. The role routinely uses dollies or hand trucks while loading or unloading the commercial vehicle, as well as standard office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, and smartphones. Commercial truck drivers operate tractor‑trailers and other large vehicles to transport cargo over various distances. Depending on assignments, a driver may work locally or travel long distances.
A commercial driver’s license (CDL) is required, and training programs are available to teach operators how to drive large trucks and prepare them for the CDL test.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A clean driving record (MVR).
- CDL License.
- Ability to lift 150 pounds.
