Staff Product Engineer, EU – Ashby

Ashby is a growth‑stage technology company that builds tools for talent‑acquisition professionals. We’re looking for an ambitious full‑stack engineer who will own product development end‑to‑end and build features used by thousands of daily users.

Base salary is commensurate with experience and skill set. Full‑benefits package and equity available.

• Own large portions of products, from research and spec writing to implementation.
• Design and build automated interview‑scheduling that calculates mutually available times and presents them to candidates.
• Build a declarative filter architecture that lets users create complex filters, composed to SQL in the backend.
• Specced, designed and implemented an internal offer‑signing flow that lets users complete signing entirely within Ashby.

• Comfortable tackling any part of the stack: frontend, backend, or new infrastructure.
• Experience delivering on product and technical ambiguity while balancing speed and quality.
• Collaboration and excellent communication skills – you vet decisions with stakeholders and keep them informed.
• Ambitious and continually improving yourself; open to feedback and eager to learn.
• Good sense of how to leverage code for automation, tooling, or governance.
• Prior ownership of end‑to‑end projects preferred; mentorship of junior engineers not required.

• Minimal process – ownership over decisions that product and design normally make.
• Deliberate communication and active collaboration across teams.
• Investment in tooling and abstractions that scale with growth.

• Introduction call with hiring manager (15–30 min).
• Technical screen: pair‑programming in our codebase (1 h).
• Three non‑coding interviews focused on product thinking, technical design, and infrastructure (total 3 h 15 min). + optional 30‑minute recruiter screen based on bandwidth.

On‑boarding includes a single‑script development environment setup, rapid deployment of your first feature, and gradual exposure to larger, more ambiguous work. Your manager conducts 30‑, 60‑, and 90‑day reviews.

QL API, Node.js, Postgres, Redis. Typed‑language experience helpful but not required.
