Senior UX Strategist

We are looking for a thoughtful, detail-oriented UX Strategist to be the next member of our growing developer-owned, remote-friendly, people-first, hyphen-loving company.

Candidates need to have significant professional experience defining and driving user experience strategy and research initiatives for custom software applications. The ideal candidate would be eager to collaborate on a growing team with plenty of opportunities for shaping long-term vision and developing into a core part of our design leadership team.

• Works directly with customers to solve business problems, helping to bridge the gap between business goals and end users’ needs.
• Has deep curiosity and experience leading ecosystem design, digital transformation and change management in enterprise organizations.
• Ability to execute detailed UX work in a complex, ambiguous problem space, while considering long term solutions and broader implications across an organization.
• Provides broad support and guidance around research processes, strategy and deliverables, helping to maintain a baseline of quality and expectations across the team.
• Independently shapes and drives the long-term UX strategy, research and roadmap on small and medium projects.
• With minimal support from design leadership, shapes and drives the long-term UX strategy, research and roadmap on large and critical projects.
• Partners with product and engineering teams to create impactful, effective solutions.
• Leads and defines user research methodology and discovery strategy, specifically for cross-department initiatives and product ecosystems.
• Independently develops comprehensive design artifacts, like service blueprints, ecosystem diagrams and user journeys, to illustrate solutions to business problems.
• Synthesizes research findings into organized research documentation and tactical product recommendations meeting user needs and business objectives.
• Defines, implements, and maintains research documentation that clearly communicates findings and solutions.
• Leads discussions with business leadership, stakeholders and users to drive consensus toward a product solution.
• Facilitates the process of change management as part of a product solution, whether through process changes, communication strategies or technical solutions.

• Actively fosters close design partnerships with key stakeholders and subject matter experts.
• Develops and communicates a unified, high-level UX strategy and vision for the product.
• Collaborates to build out and maintain a strategic product roadmap, aligning business goals with the end user’s experience.
• Effectively directs the cadence of a project’s design focus through the cycles of Discovery, Definition, Development and Delivery.
• Identifies additional strategic steps beyond the design and development of the application that are necessary to improve a product experience.
• Advocates for the design process with stakeholders where appropriate.

• Supports fellow collaborators and less experienced designers, mentoring them in strategic thinking.
• Gives detailed strategic and UI/UX design feedback, constructively. Receives feedback graciously.
• Contributes to and fosters a collaborative environment on all projects and initiatives they are involved in. Welcomes collaboration from peers and stakeholders outside the design practice.

• 8+ years of experience in UX design is required, with at least 3 years in a strategic role.
• Able to create holistic and scalable solutions.
• Defaults to influencing the design process with collaborators in mind. Fully leveraging design libraries, components, auto-layout, and design variables as early as possible
• Strong communication skills to ensure meaningful engagement and partnership with project stakeholders.
• Ability to work well independently and within a team environment, while adhering to established and agreed-upon deadlines and establishing individual deadlines.
