Wrocław University of Science and Technology (PWr), Faculty of Management invites motivated candidates to apply for a fully funded PhD position within the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Doctoral Network ENERPOL.
As a PhD fellow at the Faculty of Management, Wrocław University of Science and Technology, the tasks will include:
- Carrying out an independent research project on households’ willingness to provide energy flexibility through demand response, under the supervision of prof. Anna Kowalska-Pyzalska.
- Completing PhD coursework (approx. 30 ECTS) through the PWr Doctoral School.
- Conducting high‑quality empirical research, including survey design, interview protocols, and quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
- Participating in international research environments, including: a research stay at a partner institution within the ENERPOL network, an industry secondment with a non‑academic partner.
- Engaging in dissemination activities, including presenting at conferences, preparing publications, and gaining experience in teaching or science communication.
- Preparing and writing the doctoral dissertation based on the conducted research.

Skills/Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- A Master’s degree in a field relevant to the project, such as Management, Economics, Energy Economics, Behavioral Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Data Science, or related social sciences/management disciplines. Degrees in interdisciplinary programs that combine social sciences with technology or sustainability are also welcome.
- The degree must qualify the applicant for enrollment in the Doctoral School at Wrocław University of Science and Technology (PWr). Information on the recognition of degrees can be found at: (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)./admission
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) and excellent communication skills.
Applicants must additionally meet the MSCA Doctoral Network eligibility criteria:
- MSCA Mobility Rule - Candidates may be of any nationality but must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Poland for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the recruitment date eptions apply for compulsory national service, holidays, time spent as part of asylum procedures under the Geneva Convention.
- Doctoral Candidate Rule - the applicant must not already hold a doctoral degree on the first day of employment.
Candidates who have successfully defended a PhD thesis but have not yet been formally awarded the degree are considered ineligible. Only candidates fulfilling both criteria will be considered.
Specific Requirements
Preferred Qualifications and Assessment Criteria
Applicants with experience in behavioral research, survey design, energy economics or socio‑technical transition studies are particularly encouraged to apply. Relevant skills include quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis (e.g. regression analysis, clustering, thematic coding), as well as familiarity with mixed‑methods research or interdisciplinary project work. Experience with agent‑based modelling, social simulation or computational social science is considered an asset but is not required.
