The Rector-Commandant of the Academy of Justice announces a COMPETITION for the position of a university professor at the Institute of Penitentiary Studies of the University of Applied Sciences

BASIC TASKS:

• Designing and conducting scientific research in an interdisciplinary approach, in accordance with the specificity of the Institute of Penitentiary Studies of the AWS;
• Designing, implementing and reporting various development works, especially related to the specificity of the tasks of the AWS Institute of Penitentiary Studies;
• Undertaking scientific activities aimed at building the scientific achievements of AWS, including: publishing in renowned journals and publishing houses; active representation of AWS at scientific conferences;
• Participation in research teams and other task forces as part of the implementation of AWS tasks;
• Undertaking tasks for their own scientific development and developing teaching skills.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

• possession of at least a postdoctoral degree in the discipline of social sciences,
• having significant scientific achievements in the field of pedagogy, in particular rehabilitation pedagogy or penitentiary pedagogy;
• communicative knowledge of English;
• having full legal capacity and exercising full public rights,
• no criminal record for an intentional crime.

PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO PEOPLE:

• with academic experience in scientific and didactic positions
• having significant scientific achievements in the form of author's monographs, scientific articles in high-scoring journals or chapters in scientific monographs in publishers from the list of publishing publishers, peer-reviewed scientific monographs;
• who have a scientific internship at a national or foreign university;
• having the ability to develop teaching materials for students;
• experienced in directing and participating in research programmes;
• declaring their readiness to affiliate with AWS of scientific achievements created as a result of their work at this University;
• guaranteeing the timely performance of research and teaching work carried out at AWS,
• speak English at a level that allows the use of English-language scientific literature;
• have experience in teaching work;
• demonstrating high availability to carry out teaching tasks in Warsaw and Kalisz.

OFFERS SHOULD INCLUDE:

• application addressed to the Rector-Commander of AWS,
• personal questionnaire of the person applying for employment with a statement of familiarization with the information clause – Appendix No. 1 and 2,
• copies of documents confirming qualifications,
• a list of scientific achievements and didactic achievements,
• copies of employment certificates and references,
• Statement of no criminal record – Appendix No. 3,
• Statement on the primary or additional workplace – Appendix No. 4.

The interested person should submit the required documents at the seat of the Academy of Justice, at the secretariat - address: 00-155 Warsaw, Karmelicka 9, between 900 and 1500 hours or via e-mail sekretariat.pl by
16 January 2026. (the date of receipt of documents to AWS counts).

Only complete applications will be considered (documents submitted after the deadline will not be considered).

Please be advised that we will contact only selected candidates. Failure to inform the candidate about the results of the competition will be tantamount to rejecting their offer. We do not return submitted documents.

Selected candidates will be informed about the date of the interview by phone.

The competition will be decided within eight weeks from the deadline for submission of bids.

The university does not provide housing.

The outcome of the competition does not result in the establishment of an employment relationship.

The decision on employment is made by the Rector-Commandant.

AWS reserves the right to close the contest without a result.
