Recognized as one of Canada’s fastest-growing companies, Lumen5 is an online video creation platform powered by machine learning and designed for businesses, brands, and creatives.

Launched in 2017, our mission is to make video marketing accessible to everyone. We believe that video is the most powerful tool for storytelling, but not everyone has the skills or resources required to produce thumb‑stopping videos. We created Lumen5 to solve this problem.

We currently have over 700,000 users and work with notable brands including Salesforce, SAP, Siemens, and The World Health Organization. Our company has won growth awards from Canadian Business and the Globe and Mail, and we were crowned the winner of the New Ventures BC Competition 2019 which recognizes innovation in BC’s tech sector. We now have our sights set on revolutionizing how businesses create video and we’re looking for like‑minded folks to join us in elevating Lumen5 to the next level.

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer (UI/UX) that is a creative systems thinker to take our video creation to the next level.

We’re looking for someone who can get deep into customers’ heads to understand what makes them tick, and then design solutions that make their lives simpler and their videos 10x better. You’ll bring design process and skills to the team and significantly shape how thousands of businesses create video everyday. You’ll report directly to the Head of Product and have a huge impact on the direction of our product.

The role has two main functions:

• Design contributor (60%)
  • Designing on our video creation team. This team is responsible for the video creation process, a complex and impactful core of Lumen5
  • Working with the Product Manager and developers to explore and define ideas from conception to execution
  • Creating mockups and handoff documents to help the team understand the nuances of the idea
  • Running design sprints on broad ideas to help the team uncover problems and solutions
  • Talking to users to get feedback on new project ideas and mockups
• Design leadership (40%)
  • Managing one Product Designer (possibly expanding to two as the team grows)
  • Working with the product team and Head of Product to define a design roadmap and priorities
  • Helping to create and update components in our Storybook library to ensure uniform design across the app
  • Running design audits to surface potential issues

• 5+ years in a product design/UI/UX role
• Experience with UX research, conducting interviews
• Experienced with demands of a fast‑paced and collaborative team environment with an emphasis on co‑creation
• Scoping work and planning time accordingly
• Able to multitask and adapt quickly to project needs
• Able to efficiently use design and communication tools to deliver well‑crafted designs
• Bonus points if you have:
  • Design degree or diploma/BA in relevant field
  • Frontend experience (html/css)
  • People management experience

The starting salary band for this role for candidates at the targeted skill and experience level is $98,420 - $118,100.

Our compensation structure is market‑based, and we pay fair market rate for all roles. We value transparency, which is why we share our starting salary bands for all roles rting salaries will vary within this range based on experience and skill level.
