Nestled in the sunny foothills of the Sierra Nevada, Sierra Waldorf School is a vibrant, fully AWSNA-accredited school serving approximately 133 students from Nursery through Eighth Grade. Our rural campus lies in the historic Rawhide Valley, just a short drive from Yosemite National Park, numerous state parks, and abundant hiking trails—an ideal setting for those who love nature, beauty, and community.
We offer a rich and well-rounded curriculum that includes Puppetry, Choir, Gardening, Spanish, Movement Education, and Woodworking, supported by an experienced and dedicated faculty. Our teachers share a deep commitment to Waldorf education, collegial collaboration, and ongoing study of Anthroposophy.
Position OverviewThe Grades Class Teacher guides their class through daily, weekly, and block rhythms, thoughtfully planned in alignment with Waldorf pedagogy and the developmental needs of the children. This role invites continual professional and inner development, including deepening one’s understanding of Anthroposophy and child development, and seeking fresh inspiration and materials for teaching.
Faculty members participate fully in the life of the school, including:
- Weekly faculty meetings
- Grades mentoring groups
- Committee service and shared governance
- Bachelor’s degree is highly desirable
- Completed Waldorf teacher training strongly preferred
- Full annual salary range: $43,680–$68,850
- Additional compensation for bachelor’s degree, completed Waldorf teacher training, and Waldorf teaching experience
