Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position in a critical access hospital, requiring an active IL RN license and ICU skills.
Responsibilities- Work in a 4-bed ICU within a critical access hospital
- Night shift schedule (19:00-07:30), 3x12 hour shifts
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2 on all shifts
- Must work every other weekend
- Floating within scope is required as needed
- Uses Cerner for charting; prior Cerner experience preferred
- ICU responsibilities include managing complex critically ill patients and participating in emergency response
- No on-call requirements
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Any solid color scrubs are permitted
- Free parking with permit provided during orientation
- Must follow RTO restrictions, ideally no more than 5 days off during assignment
- Block scheduling may be discussed with the manager
- Holiday coverage may be required per department needs
- Locals are accepted with no radius restriction
- Active IL RN license required at time of application
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multi-system organ failure, and 12 lead EKGs
- Skilled in IV therapy including arterial and central/PICC line management, IV insulin protocols, and blood product administration
- Experience managing continuous IV paralytics, sedation, emergency meds, and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Experience managing BiPAP, CPAP, chest tubes, HFNC, ventilators, and interpreting ABGs
- Experience in infection prevention, isolation precautions, surgical wounds/wound vacs, and PPE use
- Cerner charting experience preferred
