What

You ll Do

Responsible for ensuring the safe, cost effective and environmentally sound marine transportation of cargo throughout the field; and/or oversight monitoring of petroleum and cargo barges and coordination of daily operational vessel support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Management position responsible for ensuring vessels are crewed, operated, and maintained in compliance with regulatory requirements, company standards, and customer expectations globally.
  • Traveling to multiple locations as needed, including extended stays away from the homeport
  • Implementing standard procedures and guidelines to operate a safe and environmentally sound fleet
  • Ensuring all vessel personnel meet required regulatory training standards
  • Assisting with the development, management, and adherence of operational budgets
  • Investigating vessel damage, product spills, and personal injuries, including notifying appropriate authorities and company personnel and ensuring accurate documentation
  • Supervising licensed and unlicensed personnel and supporting crew management development
  • Inspecting vessels to ensure seaworthiness and arranging maintenance or repairs to address deficiencies
  • Coordinating assist tugs, pilots, and crew care as necessary
  • Providing technical expertise for specialized field operations
  • Communicating with marine assurance groups to ensure timely vessel clearance
  • Providing direct supervision of both union and non‑union vessel personnel
Qualifications

Education & Credentials: Academy degree in deck or engineering or equivalent work-related experience.

Experience
  • 5 - 7 years relevant experience in petroleum, cargo handling or vessel operation.
  • 5 - 10 years marine transportation at chief engineer or master s level preferred.
Technical Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word.
Working Conditions

Works both inside an office environment and also outside in conditions of both high and low temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom and be able to climb ladders. May require extended use of computer keyboard and viewing of computer monitor and ability to sit for long periods of time.
