Position Details- $21.42 per hour
- Schedule varies based on business need; 4 day per week (Mon-Fri) and every 12th Saturday
- Start time between 5:00am and 7:00am (depending on route)

The Medical Waste Route Driver is responsible for servicing assigned accounts in the most professional way, ensuring that customers’ needs are met on a continual basis for various waste pickup and supply delivery. This role provides the highest level of customer service and may transport waste from Stericycle locations or customer locations to transfer or processing locations. All company vehicles are equipped with cameras, ELD, and GPS.
KeyJob Activities
- Manage assigned routes to ensure waste is picked up safely, on time, and accurately.
- Pick up and transport waste safely according to federal, state, and local regulations.
- Plan daily schedule based on customers’ needs using provided paperwork (manifests, route sheets, prior records) and routing software.
- Load trucks as needed to service accounts for the day and secure waste during transport.
- Unload at Stericycle or customer sites and secure waste.
- Ensure waste is prepared according to regulations before transport.
- Provide high levels of customer service; communicate issues to Transportation Manager/Supervisor or Dispatcher for resolution (e.g., re-routes, container changes, training).
- Secure waste, supplies, and equipment prior to operating a vehicle on public highways.
- Complete paperwork legibly and accurately and return to the supervisor.
- Complete DOT Driver Log if applicable and communicate route changes or issues to the supervisor/dispatcher.
- Coordinate with covering employees and report anomalies to maintain service quality.
- Report problems with accounts to the supervisor/dispatcher by end of business each day.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip maintenance on assigned trucks and report maintenance needs.
- Use ELD and Geotab to log hours in compliance with DOT guidelines, if applicable.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Education:
High School or Equivalent
- 6+ months of experience, preferably driving shred/box trucks and managing routes
- Must be 21 years or older for route management
- Valid standard driver’s license (Class D or above) with a clean driving record
- Ability to obtain and retain a valid Medical Examiner Certificate (ME) for route management
- Non-native English speakers welcome if they can read and speak English sufficiently to understand highway signs, respond to inquiries, and make entries on reports as required by federal regulation
