Overview
Texas Sports Academy is seeking a Sports Mentor who can translate elite athletic principles into practical coaching methods, guiding students to become top performers through daily, direct coaching. The role emphasizes coaching that drives students past their perceived limits, with Austin as the on-site location and year-round outdoor training opportunities.
What You Will Be Doing- Conducting intensive 1:1 coaching sessions that transform your competitive athletic background into concrete, practical mentorship tactics
- Directing dynamic morning assemblies designed to energize the full student population
- Delivering interactive life skills workshops where you guide students through exercises in resilience, leadership development, and goal-setting frameworks
- Overseeing structured athletic training sessions that embody championship principles: crafting drills, demanding maximum effort, refining technique, and instilling grit and collaboration through athletic practice
- Maintaining proactive engagement with all students throughout each day, moving through spaces during self-directed learning periods, intervening to inspire when a student encounters obstacles, and generating teachable moments
- Observing passively from the perimeter; you will be actively present, leading sessions, and making real-time interventions
- Delivering conventional academic instruction; students engage with adaptive learning platforms for academics. Your focus is life coaching, motivational guidance, and cultivating meta-skills through athletic mentorship
- We’re seeking former elite athletes who have proven themselves at the very top of sport — Olympians, World Champions, pro players in the NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS, or NHL, or NCAA Division I All-Americans
- Bachelor’s degree in any subject
- Proven experience using sport to mentor and coach life skills
- Demonstrated motivational leadership in athletic, academic, or professional settings
- Legal right to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
- Willing to live in or relocate to Austin, TX
Texas Sports Academy is Where Future Champions Excel in Academics and Athletics. Traditional schools force student-athletes to choose between excelling in academics or committing to their sport. The academy eliminates that tradeoff.
Their innovative K-8 model, based in Austin, TX, uses AI-driven learning to accelerate academics, allowing students to master core subjects in just two hours a day. The rest of their day is dedicated to athletic training, skill-building, and personal development, helping students excel in both studies and sport. By integrating advanced educational technology with structured sports training, they provide a unique learning experience that builds discipline, leadership, and resilience.
It’s academics and athletics in perfect sync.
