Compensation & Benefits
  • Hourly Pay: $32.00 per hour
  • Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained up to $700
  • Quarterly Bonus:
    Ryder pays you up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
  • Sign On Bonus: $1,750 at 30 days and $1,750 at 90 days
  • Schedule:

    Tuesday - Saturday
  • Hours:

    Second Shift – Tuesday to Thursday 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm, Friday 12:00 pm – 8:30 pm, Saturday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
  • Annual merit pay increases; on-the-job paid training

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational/technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including:
    • Routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
    • Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems
  • Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred
  • All other certifications as required by location (some required, some preferred)
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred
  • Additional requirements:

    must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy-duty and medium-duty equipment; knowledge of computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse)
  • This position requires driving Ryder vehicles. Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background and motor vehicle check (last 3 years)
Responsibilities
  • Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties including:
    • Standard vehicle maintenance
    • Preventive maintenance
    • Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic equipment
    • Completes complex inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
    • Replaces defective components as instructed
    • Works unsupervised on most tasks
  • Performs facility maintenance duties
  • Interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the complaint
  • Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation
  • Follows all safety and regulatory guidelines (DOT, MOT)
  • Mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
  • Accesses and uses internal and external maintenance documents
  • Provides other support duties as required (e.g., Service Island support)
  • SBTIII trained within 180 days
  • Completes OEM online diagnostic tool courses as required by location
