Your Specific Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance, structural repairs, and emergency repairs to bridges and ancillary structures. Operate lift equipment such as bucket trucks and platform trucks. Operate and maintain the maintenance Under Bridge Inspection Machine.
- Perform maintenance inspections, routine maintenance, routine repairs, and emergency repairs to mechanical equipment and electrical systems.
- Plan and organize work needs for maintenance and repair of bridges and ancillary structures. Direct and train assistants in the performance of routine maintenance and repairs of bridges and ancillary structures.
- Perform operational maintenance and periodic preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Knowledge
- Knowledge of bridge and ancillary structures maintenance and repair methods and processes.
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment and electrical systems.
- Skills
- Skilled in maintenance and repair work.
- Skilled in using tools and equipment in maintenance and repair work.
- Ability
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
- Ability to work from lift equipment and ladders, climb stairs and work at heights of 50 feet or greater.
- Ability to push, pull, and lift 50 lbs from ground level.
- Ability to crawl and work in confined spaces.
- A valid Class “B” CDL with air brakes is required at the time of hire.
- On-duty incumbents must be readily available to operate a CMV consistent with their CDL.
- Compliance with District Two Loss Prevention procedures and safety practices.
- This position has on-call responsibilities for emergency situations or other needed activities.
- Respond to emergencies before, during, and following incidents.
Requires two years of experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings, highways, or bridges, plumbing or electrical or mechanical equipment; or vocational/technical training in mechanical repair or one of the building trades (720 classroom hours substitute for each year of required experience). A valid Class “B” CDL with air brakes is required at the time of hire.
Requirements- Valid Class B driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department’s Driver’s Record Requirements Policy. Unacceptable driving records include specified moving violations, reckless driving, suspensions or DUIs within the defined time frames.
- Driving record will be reviewed and license status confirmed. Applicants must register with the FMCSA Clearinghouse for pre-employment query. A mandatory drug screening will be performed on the successful applicant.
- Must meet qualifications outlined in Title 49 CFR Part 391.11 for employment eligibility.
