PRECISION MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT CALIBRATOR with Security Clearance
Responsibilities:
- Perform calibration, repair, maintenance, and certification of a variety of electrical, electronic, and/or physical/dimensional test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).
- Use industry-approved procedures and test methods to perform precise measurements on general-purpose mechanical and electronic test equipment for the US Navy’s Metrology and Calibration Program.
- Receive detailed instruction to perform routine and repetitive calibration, disassembly, repair, modification, assembly, testing, installation, and maintenance on precision measurement equipment of limited complexity.
- Plan work using precision measurement instruments and standards such as voltmeters, oscilloscopes, measurement machines, and other test equipment; set up and operate equipment under actual or simulated operating conditions.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
- New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
- Within the Department of Defense, the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement is subject to 5 U.S.C. § 3326.
- Males born after 12‑31‑59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Successful completion of a pre-appointment physical examination is required.
- Obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. An offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report for the drug test appointment or fail the test. Random testing may also occur.
- This position may require travel from the normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS, including remote or isolated sites. Must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or competencies.
- Apply a comprehensive knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and/or hydraulic principles and operating electronic principles related to equipment integrated with other devices.
- Read, interpret, and apply technical electronic data such as schematic symbols, wiring diagrams, tables and charts, mathematical expressions and formulas, calibration procedures, and color codes used in the trade; use scientific notation for very large or small quantities.
- Use basic concepts of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry; mathematically determine the effect of temperature, humidity, and other variables on the equipment undergoing calibration and the calibration standard used.
Experience may include paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs. Volunteer work can build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills that translate directly to paid employment.

Additional Information- This position may involve an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements.
- Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- This position requires rotating shift work.
- Exposure to high noise levels is possible.
- It is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
