Diesel Mechanic- Maintenance Technician

Maintenance Technician (Shift: 2:30 pm–11 pm)

The Maintenance Technician is a skilled role specializing in inspecting, repairing, and maintaining equipment to always ensure safe operation and roadworthiness of Proficient Fleet.

Pay range: $20.00/hr – $35.00/hr (depends on experience).

• Perform preventative maintenance measures on trucks and trailers
• Assemble and disassemble vehicle engines and clean fuel tanks
• Maintain hubs and axles, adjusting or replacing as required
• Identify and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues
• Maintain brake, electrical and hydraulic systems
• Repair and replace vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions
• Compile inspection reports, document repairs and report findings to management
• Work with a sense of urgency and accuracy to keep fleet operational and safe at all times
• Test drive fleet to gauge performance
• Support parts inventory, shop cleanliness and safety
• Ensure tools, parts, and other equipment are in safe and operational condition
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with company and OSHA standards

• ASE Diesel Certification helpful (not required)
• Associate’s degree in heavy truck technology helpful (not required)
• Minimum of 1 year experience as a tractor/trailer mechanic required
• Valid driver’s license
• In-depth knowledge of vehicle systems, hydraulics, air brakes, and electrical systems
• Manual dexterity and experience with hand tools
• Ability to work in a non‑climate‑controlled environment, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and lifting for long periods
• Strong safety focus and meticulous attention to detail
• Physically able to lift up to 75 lbs
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills Location
