JOB SUMMARYThe Area Sales Manager will generate profitable new account revenue by leading the sales team and supporting leadership in coaching, training, tracking, measuring, and achieving sales goals. They will also help develop and execute the Company Growth Plan to reach sales targets for the commercial and industrial channels.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Maintain and reinforce the company sales strategy and design with the sales team.
- Develop proformas and bid packages for large government and municipal opportunities.
- Serve as the primary contact and conduit for large government and municipal customers.
- Establish and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Communicate with leadership to resolve unique prospective customer issues.
- Demonstrate outstanding management and customer service skills to motivate sales team members.
- Maintain an ongoing training, coaching, and mentoring program to develop the skills of sales representatives.
- Supervise activities of sales representatives and ensure team members meet or exceed sales call activity, pipeline growth, and new revenue goals.
- Effectively manage, maintain, and ensure the use of sales tools; ensure the team is well trained in their use.
- Provide expert industry knowledge and interpretation for sales representatives and customers.
- Assist in the communication and maintenance of company pricing and service strategies.
- Interview and select qualified candidates for open positions.
- Travel for real‑time coaching and prospecting with current reps in existing and expansion markets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers.
- Identify new business opportunities and develop plans to capitalize on them.
- Monitor and analyze sales performance data to identify areas for improvement.
- Provide regular reports on sales performance to senior management.
This position will manage one or more employees.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEHigh School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
Associate’s Degree in Business Administration or Sales and Marketing is preferred.
At least 3 years of related experience, with a minimum of 2 years in Solid Waste or a service‑related industry preferred.
SERVICES SKILLS & CAPABILITIES- Language:
Ability to read, write, proofread, and present information effectively. - Mathematical:
Ability to perform basic arithmetic, compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret graphs. - Reasoning:
Ability to apply common sense and solve problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations. - Computer:
Proficiency with a personal computer, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
- Regularly sit; use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear.
- Frequently reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally stand, walk, or lift up to 10 lbs.
- Requires clear vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Noise level is usually quiet.
