Responsibilities- This is a varied and complex position under which provides environmental information and expertise to laboratories requesting chemical certification required by Florida Statutes and coordinates information with County Health Departments, Department of Environmental Protection, Environmental Protection Agency, and other interested groups.
- Grades performance evaluation reports and prepares and mails statements to the laboratories concerning compliance.
- Initiates and follows up certification process by reviewing applications and preparing folders with proper documentation.
- Answers written correspondence and telephone inquiries concerning the water certification rules 10D-41.050 and 10D-41.100, as well as laboratory status in the certification process.
- Maintains database files and provides informational reports which evaluate laboratory status and recommend corrective action.
- Receives and reviews correspondence relevant to the certification or decertification of laboratories.
- Reviews quality assurance plans submitted by water testing laboratories and provides technical assistance when issuing remedial action reports.
- Participates in extraordinary laboratory assessments and a witness and observer for ELCP, and mission essential training, as needed. Periodic travel will be required as needed.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Knowledge of terminology, principles and techniques used in analysis and testing.
- Knowledge of procedures, techniques and equipment used in lab testing and analysis.
- Knowledge of the method of data collection.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
- Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Minimum:
Hold a valid Driver License - Preferred:
Bachelor in science or Bachelor in Arts in Natural sciences with a minimum of 16 hours of Chemistry.
