Position: Nurse Perioperative | Periop 101 | FT Days

Overview

The Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to surgical patients utilizing the nursing process and the standards of care of a professional nurse. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and functions as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities/tasks may be delegated to Surgical Technologists, Patient Care Associates, Guest Associates and Anesthesia Technologists.

Qualifications

Required Education

Associates' degree. Specific coursework:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Preferred Education

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Specialty Certification.

Required

Licensure/Certification s

Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Florida. BLS from the American Heart Association is required. Effective March 19, 2024. ACLS and PALS are not required.

Preferred

Licensure/Certification s

Professional Specialty Certification Preferred. ACLS and PALS Required.

Required Experience

PACU Nurses need a minimum of 1 year critical care (ICU/ED) experience.
Perioperative Fellows can be new graduate nurses that may apply to the program.
Nurses need 1-2 years of related OR experience.

Preferred Experience

2+ years of relevant perioperative nursing experience.

Necessary Skills

Demonstrates teamwork and communicates in a professional manner with all members of the healthcare team.

Demonstrates a willingness to learn new methods, procedures and techniques resulting from departmental or organizational change.

Adapts quickly and easily to change and adjusted behavior and approach to work when necessary to achieve goals.

Adheres to hospital and Florida Nurse Practice Act guidelines in providing patient care.

Familiar with medical/surgical equipment used in patient care environment.
