Position: Licensed Practical Nurse - Part Time
Location: Jacksonville, FL
SummaryThe Licensed Practical Nurse is a key member of the multidisciplinary care team. He/she provides general nursing care to patients and plays an important role to help ensure a positive patient experience and efficient clinic operation by assisting healthcare providers in the conduct of patient care. The LPN contributes to overall patient care which is guided by the patient's care plan, facility policies and procedures, and professional standards of practice.
The primary function of this position is to provide floating coverage to different clinics within the health center. The LPN will work with adults, children and behavioral health clients. The nurse will work closely with the health center staff, the case management staff and the operations staff to provide comprehensive care to promote the wellness of the patients.
Resident, Guest and Internal Customer Focus – The Licensed Practical Nurse is sensitive to cultural, spiritual and practical needs of residents, families, guests and staff members in all interactions. He/she provides positive feedback and comments about the quality of work and effort that have been offered by patients, residents, families and coworkers, and adjusts priorities and schedules to meet specific customer needs.
The Nurse reports and/or corrects problems related to safety, cleanliness and comfort of resident, patient and work areas, and follows Universal Precautions and Infection Control techniques. He/she demonstrates an understanding of their role in facility safety plans and procedures related to fire, weather and other disasters.
- Patient triage, the assessment of immediate medical needs with appropriate response
- Accurate medical intake/documentation including vital signs, height, weight, allergies (drug and food), past medical history, and current complaint
- Directed procedures to be performed EKG, nebulizer treatments, ear irrigation, suture removal, wound dressings, lab procedures and other directed procedures (such as venipuncture under OSHA and CUA guidelines)
- Provision of prescribed medications under the supervision of primary care provider and instruction to patients regarding how and when to take medications
- Record and update patient medication allergies and contraindications of medications
- Develop effective incentives to encourage clients to seek care/treatment for HIV, substance abuse, chronic illness, and/or mental illness
- Collaborate with the Clinic Staff in maintaining medication inventories
- Maintain records according to records policy
- Collection of data for Director of Patient Services
- Initiate patient assistance program applications
- Develop and revise policies and procedures related to activities for this position
- At minimum of 1 year experience as a LPN
- Pediatric experience preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills
- Ability to pass a Level II Background Screening
- Transportation and valid Florida driver's license
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and management skills
- Physically able to work in a fast paced environment with multiple health care providers
- Ability to travel
- Works in a typical clinical office setting
