Overview
Under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager (NM), the Nurse RN Charge directs, coordinates, and controls the nursing activities of assigned staff. Assists the NM in evaluating staff and completing projects. Provides care for a group of patients utilizing the Nursing Process and may also provide nursing care in select phases of Perioperative care based on demonstrated competencies. Assignments are appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients served.
Responsible for maintaining nursing schedules and orienting new employees.
Required
Education:
Associate's degree. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Completion of the OB RN Surgical Scrub Competencies training course. New hires effective June 14, 2017, must obtain a BSN within three years of hire or transfer. Employees hired or transferred between August 1, 2013, and June 13, 2017, must follow conditions in their offer letter and signed job description. Current employees hired or transferred before August 1, 2013, are grandfathered.
Specific
Certifications:
For certain units, AWHONN FHM Intermediate or Advanced certification required within specified timelines; ACLS, PALS, NRP, and STABLE certifications required within specified timelines based on unit and hire date.
Required Licensure: Licensed to practice nursing in Florida. BLS from the American Heart Association is required for all areas.

Required Experience: 1-2 years of clinical experience. Preferred experience is not specified.
Necessary
Skills:
Adherence to hospital and Florida Nurse Practice Act guidelines, familiarity with patient care equipment.
