Job Summary and Qualifications

The Nursing Director is responsible for the management of the day‑to‑day operation of the assigned patient care area(s). He/she is also responsible for the supervision of assigned personnel. The position requires intimate knowledge of both department and hospital policies and procedures relevant to the delivery of nursing care. Interpretive skills, frequent interactive and consultative associations along with management and supervisory skills are inherent in the position.

The ability to retrieve, communicate or otherwise present information in a written, auditory or visual fashion is essential. Written, computer, telephone skills and manual dexterity are required. Specific responsibilities include nursing quality improvement, policies and procedures, productivity, staffing and scheduling, program development and special projects. Responsible for providing input into the development of department specific operating budgets, accountable for management of operating budget(s), providing input into capital supply and equipment needs, investigating and reporting variances.

Qualifications
  • BSN required;
    Master's Degree preferred.
  • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state of practice and/or active compact license, in accordance with laws and regulation required.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification required.
  • 3+ years of experience as a staff nurse in an acute care setting required; 1+ year of experience in leadership/supervisory experience required.
