Veel in producing surgical instruments and medical implant devices. Under supervision, you will learn to operate standard and CNC equipment, interpret engineering drawings, support design for manufacturability, and assist in bringing the next generation of medical devices to patients. Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Assists in maintaining machines and ensuring a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Learn and improve machine operations and processes, contributing ideas to senior staff as skills develop.
- Receives hands‑on training from experienced staff and applies knowledge to improve machining skills.
- Completes required paperwork accurately and promptly.
- Uses basic Microsoft Office products for record‑keeping and reporting.
- Works closely with multidisciplinary colleagues in a supportive team environment, developing oral and written communication skills.
- Develops organizational and record‑keeping skills, practicing clear communication with supervisors and peers.
- Demonstrates a strong work ethic, focusing on producing high‑quality work under supervision and meeting deadlines.
- Assists with machine setups and operates standard CNC equipment under supervision (lathes, milling machines, grinders, measuring tools).
- Learn to read and interpret engineering drawings and sketches to plan and execute basic machining tasks.
- Supports machinists in handling materials and setting up machines for production runs, learning layout and operation sequencing.
- Assists in inspecting parts using precision measuring tools, making adjustments under supervision to ensure accuracy.
- Expands knowledge of materials, tooling, and machine operations.
- Follows all shop safety policies and procedures, ensuring day‑to‑day compliance.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Interest, coursework, or experience in machining, manufacturing, or engineering preferred.
- Basic familiarity with CNC equipment (mills or lathes) a plus but not required.
- Willingness to learn and operate 3D CAD software (e.g., Solid Works) under supervision.
- Desire to gain experience with CAM software (e.g., Solid Cam) and CNC programming.
- Hands‑on experience with 3D printing or related technologies helpful, not mandatory.
- No prior industry experience required; on‑the‑job training provided.
- Eagerness to learn about regulated environments such as FDA or ISO standards.
- Motivation to develop skills in verification and validation, statistical analysis, and other key industry techniques over time.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to operate standard equipment and tools.
- Basic math skills for shop computations and measurements.
- Attention to detail, eagerness to work with close tolerances.
- Open to receiving training and feedback to develop technical and performance skills.
- Teamwork and collaboration in a supportive team environment.
- Commitment to safety procedures.
- Developing strong interpersonal and communication skills.
