Ship fitter/Stick Welder - Newport News, VA
$45/hour & $140 per diem
This position is located in Newport News, Virginia!!
Responsibilities- Perform multi-pass tack welding using the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) process.
- Operate burning and heating equipment, specifically oxygen/propane burning torches.
- Interpret complex structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches, including weld symbols, material types, datum, and reference lines.
- Comprehend fractional dimensions using a ruler and lay off piece parts for fabrication and assembly.
- Assemble structural piece parts according to specifications with high-quality standards.
- Work effectively in physically demanding environments such as shipbuilding or steel fabrication.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations relevant to the shipbuilding industry.
- Utilize vibratory tools including grinders and needle guns.
- Single & Multi Pass Tack Welding
- Burning using Oxygen/Propane Burning Torch
- Heating using Oxygen/Propane Heating Torch
- Ability to read and interpret complex structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches
- Ability to comprehend fractional dimensions using a ruler
- Ability to lay off piece parts for fabrication and assembly
This is a Contract position based out of Jacksonville, FL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $45.00/hr.
