Procurement and Shop Coordinator

W.W. Gay Mechanical Contractor Inc has an opening for a material and order coordinator in our steel fabrication shop. Previous experience working in a steel fabrication shop or similar production shop environment is desired.

• Place orders with structural steel and material suppliers per bill of material lists
• Receive and unload daily steel and material deliveries
• Inventory and store daily deliveries and distribute to appropriate shop personnel
• Assemble and palletize fabricated items, material and hardware
• Create and maintain receiving and shipping logs of all materials received and shipped to and from the shop
• Schedule and arrange delivery for completed fabricated items and material
• Load outgoing deliveries onto shipping trucks
• Assist with shop clean‑up and general shop duties as needed
• Assist shop manager with other duties as needed

• High School Diploma required
• Ability to create basic Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Word documents
• Ability to pass a drug test
• Valid driver’s license with no prior offenses prohibiting operating company vehicles/equipment
• Availability to work from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, with occasional after‑hours and weekends as needed
• Maintain an orderly work area
• Maintain consistent and effective production output levels
• Ability to communicate effectively with managers, co‑workers, suppliers, and customers
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to operate a forklift
