Pay Range:$16/hr.

- $20/hr.

Pay is based on numerous factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

This Janitorial Worker plays a vital role in supporting hurricane response efforts in Florida by maintaining clean and sanitary conditions at designated sites. The Janitorial Worker will be responsible for performing various cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure a safe and healthy environment for affected individuals and response personnel.

• Clean and sanitize facilities, including shelters, restrooms, offices, and other assigned areas, using appropriate cleaning solutions and equipment.
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors, removing debris and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
• Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste properly.
• Clean and disinfect surfaces, such as countertops, tables, and doorknobs, to prevent the spread of germs and maintain hygiene.
• Replenish supplies, such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper, in restrooms and other areas.
• Clean up spills and other messes, including those involving potentially hazardous materials, following established safety procedures.
• Operate cleaning equipment, such as floor scrubbers, buffers, and carpet extractors, safely and effectively.
• Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies, ensuring they are in good working condition.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of cleaning areas.
• Perform heavy cleaning tasks, such as cleaning up after flooding or other water damage.
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Must possess prior experience in janitorial work.
• Must possess the ability to use cleaning equipment and supplies safely and effectively.
• Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with other staff and volunteers.
• Be prepared to deploy to disaster-affected areas, often with short notice.

Employees may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.

Employees may be required to remain in a stationary position, stand, push, pull, climb, kneel, crawl, balance, squat, bend, and reach. Employees may be also required to use gear to move items around, including, but not limited to, carts and dollies. Employees may also be occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds.
