Position: Underwriter I - Credit Protection & Specialty

The Underwriter I – Credit Protection & Specialty will assist with Fortegra’s Lender Placed products including Mortgage Fire, Flood, Collateral Protection and Blanket VSI; and Specialty products including Investor Program Hazard and General Liability. Responsibilities will include verbal and electronic communication with agents, receive and process applications for coverage, underwriting review, decision recommendations, development of quotes, policy issue activities, underwriting analysis, reporting and other analytical activities.

The position reports to the Vice President of Lender Products Underwriting.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of property and casualty insurance products
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Insurance license preferred
Primary Job Functions
  • Support the Lender Products Underwriting team
  • Receive and review applications for Lender Placed Insurance and Investor Program quotes
  • Develop quotes using rating tools and methodology provided
  • Manage and organize flow of quotes to ensure timely delivery and response
  • Update CRM with quote status
  • Submit policy requests to Compliance upon receipt of bind request for Lender Placed Program
  • Proofread policies for accuracy prior to delivery to client ensuring timely delivery and response
  • Assist in review of bordereaux files for premium reporting, claims or other reporting needs to proactively manage the business
